I loved him the man who always smelled of metal and machine oil. Every night, he examined my body with cold instruments, staring at me like a part of his experiment. I know he only wanted to heal me. I know it was all for love. But love can turn into a cage. Days passed, and my body changed. I stopped feeling hunger, stopped craving sleep. My skin no longer felt like mine. Something lived beneath it—moving, breathing, growing.

Sometimes, I heard whispers from the machines: “Evolution requires sacrifice.” I was afraid. But… curious, too. Am I still Leah? Or is something new being born from me? As I write this final note, I feel my skin cracking, soft, and cold.
